Having A Release Party

A fun way to celebrate the release of our book is to have a release party. I am fortunate to have friends that are willing to not only support my writing but also pray for me during the writing of a new novel.

Pursuit was published in 2012 and a good friend wanted to plan a release party for me. So a few weeks in advance I ordered release party post cards from my publisher announcing the party and the upcoming release of my new novel, Pursuit.

We addressed the post cards, mailed them to all on the list of guests we were inviting and unbeknownst to me, she ordered a special cake. I was so surprised when I saw it!

Publix Bakery did a fantastic job of copying the cover, don’t you think?

We set up a table with my newly released book as well as the previous ones, just in case someone would be interested in those also.

And another table with the cake and drinks. We were ready for the huge crowd to arrive. Ohhh how I hated to cut into that beautiful cake!

But I did and it was soooo good!

Everyone seemed to have a great time. A close friend insisted she just had to have my new book and we were playing like I was refusing to let her have one. The party was so much fun and those who were strangers when they came in had new friends when they walked out.

Then it was book signing time.

This is a fun way to introduce your books, get better acquainted with neighbors, make new friends, and yes, sell some books. Because it was a friend that planned the party there were people invited that were her friends also so I was able to meet new people as well.

Maybe it would also work for a, “I’m writing a book party.” Hey, a party is a party and we can come up with all kinds of excuses to party. 🙂

Blessings – until next time.

  1. Hey check it out. I now have a picture with credit on the back of a book. I don’t know if you follow Salvageable, but he wrote a study of Revelation and asked if he could use a picture of Percy laying on a Bible I had taken as his author’s picture on the back!
