No Rest for the Weary

I take that back! The Lord said to come unto Him and He will give the weary rest. Maybe I haven’t come close enough to Him because I’m tired. ๐Ÿ™‚

Vacation was great and having my friend here for two weeks was work and fun. We spent the first week working in the yard in 95-98 degree heat until we just couldn’t take it anymore.

I can guarantee my water bill went up with the drought we’re in and all the showers and whirlies that were taken plus having to water a whole bunch of plants to keep them alive. But then we got to have what she called fun. I call playing in the dirt fun but she saw it more as work.

Our trip to South Georgia was nice (hot) and the trip to Tennessee was enlightening. (also hot) We caught the last two days of a Perry Stone conference and I got to visit my friend from Arkansas and my friend got to visit with her son. So all went well and now I’m back to a quiet house and a week ahead filled with appointments.

I haven’t had time to work on the new book and I’m wondering if I’ll even be able to get to it at all this week. Dentist appoint today, Doctor appointment tomorrow, my car suddenly created a clunk, clunk clunk, so had it in the shop today. Thank God they didn’t have soap operas on the T.V. in the waiting lounge!

I was finally able to leave only to have the clunk, clunk, clunk reappear as I pulled into my garage. Back I go Wednesday! With another dentist visit and hopefully I receive some of the Lord’s rest over the week-end.

I’d much rather spend my time writing, but there are priorities that we have to pay attention to. Hopefully I’ll find a little time to get back to the story that’s being created as well as keep up with the blogs.

I won’t give up if you won’t. ๐Ÿ™‚

Making a List and Checking it Twice

The heat is sweltering outside and we have decided to stay in and keep cool. Last night my friend and I enjoyed the Chinese cuisine at my favorite Chinese restaurant and won’t have to worry about cooking tonight due to the large amount of food we were served. Love those doggie boxes. ๐Ÿ™‚

That helps, and along with the sweltering heat, that leaves me with some spare time for writing and my friend time to begin getting some of her things put together for her return home in a few days. She always leaves with more than she came with. Praise God.

Last night was another one of those sleepless nites. It might help had I not stretched out on the couch and fell sound asleep after returning from south Georgia.

But a good nap can be beneficial, too. I had the quiet of the night to write and completed another chapter on my new book and start yet another one. Today we have been relaxing, and low and behold I just finished another one! When it flows, it flows and there’s no stopping it. My friend has been helpful with her knowledge of kid kind of stuff whereas I know nothing about kids. So now she feels like she’s invested a little in the story, too. A little help from a friend isn’t all bad.

I am so glad that early on I learned to write the name’s of my characters down on paper for easy reference because I’m finding I’m having to go to it to recall the name of whom did what in the early part of the story.

I have the main characters but someone slips in and then might appear later in the story and its easy to forget their name or exactly where they fit in the story. I suggest anyone writing a story, be it a short story or a novel, do the same. It makes writing so much easier to have the list and be able to check it twice, or three times, or four times, or…

Happy writing and see ya’ next time, the Lord willing.

Heat, Traffic, and Playing Tourist.

As you have probably noticed I haven’t posted anything for a couple of days. Well, there’s a reason for that but before I mention why, I have managed to be able to write a couple more chapters on the new book I’m writing.

I’m finding it easier to write early in the morning while my guest does her devotional, prayers, and Bible study. I did manage to get one chapter written early one morning because I was able to go to bed, fall asleep, and awaken at 6:00 a.m.

Then another chapter got written late at night after my guest went to bed and I was still wide awake. The story is definitely getting interesting and a couple of times I’ve stopped and said. “Huh? Where in the world are you taking this, Lord?” Of course the only answer I get, if I even get an answer is, “You’ll see.”

My friend and I just got home from an short stay down in south Georgia. Yes, we’re still breaking the heat records and Atlanta traffic is still a nightmare and we almost roasted touring the Callaway Family Home and gardens. If anyone is around Georgia, that is a must to see. It’s well worth the 2-3 hour tour for a mere $18.00 senior ticket price. It’s beautiful and very interesting.

The other place we played tourist at was the Biblical History Center and we were pretty disappointed in that. It isn’t what is depicted on their website and for me it was a wasted $20.00 fee to see. We didn’t pay the added $20.00 for an “original meal.” But there are those who think it’s great. To each his own.

Anyway, we had a great time and if I can stay out of the heat for the rest of the day and awake tonight, I may be able to get the “juices” flowing again and get another chapter done. We’ll see what the Lord has up His sleeve for this chapter.

In the meantime, we’re unpacking, doing laundry, staying inside out of the heat, and deciding what to do next.

Until next time…
