I heard someone say, having a short temper is not a personality type, it is a love deficiency. Which prompted me to share a brief insight on anger.
Often, I like to sit and meditate on the things the Lord has done for me. How He has helped me to overcome anger and bursts of wrath crossed my mind this morning. Growing up it was a thing around me to go from 0 to 100 really quick. Talking about a short fuse! Man!
I remember reading Ephesians 4:26-27 AMP
26 Be angry [at sin—at immorality, at injustice, at ungodly behavior], yet do not sin; do not let your anger [cause you shame, nor allow it to] last until the sun goes down. 27 And do not give the devil an opportunity [to lead you into sin by holding a grudge, or nurturing anger, or harboring resentment, or cultivating bitterness].
In shorter words for me: Anger gives satan a foothold in your life! And no! I’m just not going to willingly give him anything!
Let’s focus on the red flag within,
Anger is a flag that something is wrong. Whether its unforgiveness, trauma or bitterness. It is an outward expression of what is happening internally. The remedy is not only confessing it, but also surrendering it to Jesus, embracing His love, and allowing the Holy Spirit to heal and remove what’s hidden in the heart. Submission produces lasting, good fruit. Anger is something you cannot uproot just by merely anything self-based. I have tried it that way and although I saw a change for a short period of time, it still found a way to rear its ugly head. When anger is met with the process of God’s way before it takes root and produces bitterness, you will see true FREEDOM! Don’t we all want to be free?

“Father in the name of Jesus, search my heart and know my thoughts. Rid my heart of all unresolved anger, bitterness and unforgiveness. Show me who I need to forgive, release offense, and help me trust you with justice. I refuse to give the enemy any foothold in my life through bitterness or unforgiveness. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
